Best Mac Apps (Paid/Free)

This will be a list of both best paid (shareware) and best free (freeware) applications for Mac OS X

FreewareThis will be a list of all kind of free Mac applications and software, but not games. For Free Mac Games go here.
  1. Spotify - An application that lets you listen to almost any author (music), for free! It does have some adverts in between the songs, but it doesn't even cost a penny.
  2. Adium - This application is just a must have for all who use Microsoft Messenger, Facebook and other social media. It logs in to all of them (many if you are registered), and you can chat with all of your friends with only one application.
  3. Skype - It lets you call anyone else that has a internet connection and Skype (must be logged in) for free. With Skype, you can even share your own screen, and of course chat as well as send video of yourself with your webcam, and audio at the same time.
  4. Microsoft Messenger - The one and only Microsoft Messenger is also for mac.
  5. Perian - It is not really an application, but a plugin for Quicktime Player (Mac) that allows Quicktime Player to play almost any video codec.
  6. Google Chrome - It is my own personal favorite browser for mac.
  7. Safari Safari is a "light" browser that comes with the OS X. It has a simple design as Apple's applications usually have, but for some, it is a little bit too simple. Some love it, and some just hate it. It's up for you to choose wether or not you belong into one of the groups stated above, and most importantly which one.
  8. Firefox - The most secure and expandable browser for mac. The Firefox is just a legend.
  9. VLC - It is one of the best media players for Mac alongside Quicktime Player, because it can play almost any video codec, and even damaged files.
  10. Onyx - OnyX is the best maintenance, optimization, and personalization utility for Mac OS X in my own opinion, and the one of many others.
  11. Tor Browser Bundle - It is not exactly an application, but not like Perian neither. It is a software bundle that includes Vidalia, one of my Best Free Mac Apps. This software bundle (Tor), let's you surf the internet totally anonymously if you are using Firefox or any other Tor supported browser.
  12. iHaxGamez - This application let's you change any kind of numbers (health, ammo, money, experience) in a game on your mac (not working in some games like World of Warcraft and Runescape). This is a must have for any Mac users who play games and want to cheat them a little, but don't know how to. For tutorial on how to use it, go here for the on my mac related blog, and here for the one in YouTube.

SharewareThis list is dedicated for the best applications for Mac that are unfortunately NOT free, but you have to pay for getting them. The application can be a media editor, browser, p2p downloader etc...

  1. Spotify Premium - A must have for music listeners, even though the free version might be more suitable for many people.
  2. Screenflow - One of the best video editing software and screen recording software I know. I recommend it especially for people who want to make YouTube videos or presentations.
  3. Clusters - I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants just to get about from 10-50Gb of more space on their hard drive, because it compresses files so that they just take less space, but still work perfectly. It used to go by the name "Squeezer", but changed it's name due to already being a "Squeeze" named software.
  4. MacSpeech Dictate (International) - This is just purely amazing! It can dictate anything you say in english, french, and a bunch of other languages and almost without any mistakes. It does cost a lot, but is worth every penny.
